When hearing-impaired individuals first get their new Hearing Amplifiers, they may be overwhelmed by various news sounds and frequencies that they simply haven't heard for so long.
It may take a while for people to become comfortable with hearing words and sounds that they have yet to become accustomed to hearing again.
It's recommended that those with a new Hearing Amplifier try to limit their initial use to a few hours a day. Also it is very important to wear a Hearing Amplifier when it is quiet so that the brain can adjust to the sound, then gradually ease into noisier environments.
In fact, anywhere from two weeks to a month may be needed to get used to living with rediscovered background noises. Don't be surprised if you hear high pitched hissing or unfamiliar frequencies, this is normal at first.
On another note, It takes time for new Hearing Amplifier users to get used to the sound of their own voices because it changes the way they hear themselves.
